A new city is being built in the waters of the Indian Ocean, but with a very big peculiarity such as navigation.
This floating city will be built just 10 minutes away by boat from Male, the capital of the Maldives with a capacity of 20,000 inhabitants.
The fantastic project includes homes, restaurants, shops and schools, providing everything you need.
According to CNN, residents will begin settling in early 2024 and the entire city will be completed by 2027.
The architecture indicates there will be 1,190 low-lying islands, given that eighty percent of the land area in the Maldives is less than one meter above sea level.
But the question arises can it be a normal city just at sea?
The Maldives project aims to achieve both, building a city of 20,000 people in less than five years.
The town of Waterstudio was created to attract locals with colorful houses, spacious balconies with sea views.
Residents will travel by boat, can walk, ride bicycles or ride electric scooters along the roads.
One of the achievements that will be made with this project will be the management of overcrowding, as the Maldives has a very large population and this floating island will give it more opportunities for space.
According to the project the whole base will be secured with a steel pillar and underwater concrete placed at the bottom of the sea, allowing the city to fluctuate easily with the sea waves.
Coral reefs surrounding the city will also help to provide a natural breakwater, creating stability.
