The former leader of the Democratic Party, Tritan Shehu, invited to the show “Top Talk” on Top Channel, has openly demanded the resignation of the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha from his post in the party, a few hours before the Extraordinary Assembly of December 11.
He stressed that Basha after his resignation could run again for the post of chairman of the Democratic Party.
The sheikh also invited Basha to be part of the December 11 Assembly and to discuss and give his opinions.
“The party is in crisis and it had to be discussed and at the moment when the signatures gathered in the most ridiculous and anti-statutory way possible, it declares a congress that is not a congress but an anti-congress. In politics there is a consequence. Today I openly demand the resignation of Mr. Basha based on three main pillars and other points. I ask Mr. Basha to come to the congress on the 11th. He wants to run again from the beginning after he resigned. Berisha said that he does not rule out being one of the candidates for mayor. “Everything will be decided in the 11th assembly to take all decisions.”, said Shehu.
We recall that the Democrats continue to be in an internal political crisis, where the former historical leader Sali Berisha seeks to return the DP to its previous levels by convening the National Assembly on December 11, while on the other hand the leader of the Democrats calls this assembly illegal and convened the DP Assembly on 18 December.
This Thursday, a few hours after the Berisha assembly, our country was visited by the US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.
After a 60-minute meeting in Lulzim Basha’s office, the US envoy delivered two brief messages to the media; Albanian institutions should be the ones fighting corruption and that the DP leader is expected in the US.
Recall that the former leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha has been declared ‘non grata’ by the US State Department, while the Democratic President of the US, Joe Biden has repeatedly stressed that their sanctions target people involved in serious abuses of human rights, corruption and undermining democracy.
