On the other hand, the mayor added that mini-centers like “TUMO” will be set up on university campuses. Tumo will open a center for the young people of Kodër-Kamza, so that they do not come to Tirana to learn. We also have a request from the Catalan Institute in Barcelona to open “Nano-Al” and a research center. We are also talking to Factory Berlin. So, we have some schools of information technology and creative industry that we want to transfer to that Campus, so as not to treat it as a dormitory, “said Veliaj, adding that the municipality has the same project for the Campus of the University of Tirana .
The Mayor emphasized the ambitious project of 100 new sports fields, which will be opened next year. “We have a list of pitches that we want to turn into 100 small sports facilities. “We want each of you to give us a hand for this project,” he said. Veliaj underlined the fact that the promise for the professional athletics track at the Lake has finally been kept. “Tirana has not had a professional athletics track for a long time and not only because Luiza Gega is the best, but there are also hundreds of other young people who do sports. Another successful project in terms of a healthy lifestyle is that of the bicycle school for the age group 7-10 years. We want to turn the bicycle school that we started as an “ad hoc” operation at the “Italia” Square only with volunteers, into a professional agency of the Municipality of Tirana. I know people are still cynical, but in fact the results are very impressive. We started it 6 years ago with only 1% of the population having a bicycle, we have moved to 10% today. The Mayor did not leave without mentioning the biggest project in decades in terms of investment in new educational institutions, where he said that in addition to 14 new schools that are being rebuilt thanks to the reconstruction project after the earthquake, many more are planned for next year. The year 2022 will have the largest investment budget for the city, with a fund of 82 million euros only from the revenues of the Municipality marking the increase of the investment budget by 37% compared to 2021.
