Two cargo ships collided this Monday in the Baltic Sea between the Danish island of Bornholm and the southern Swedish city of Ystad.
According to foreign media, one ship was registered in Denmark and the other was British.
The Danish ship appeared to be “upside down”. There were two people on board and their status was unknown.
While the British ship was still operational and the crew was safe, further said.
The incident took place in Swedish territorial waters and Denmark was assisting Swedish authorities in the rescue.
A lifeboat has been launched from Bornholm Island and a helicopter has also been sent by the Danish side.
Swedish news agency TT quoted a spokesman for the Swedish Coast Guard as saying one of the boats was 90 meters long and the other 55 meters.
