Belind Këlliçi and Ledina Mandia.
Thus, with 251 votes in favor, 4 against, 1 abstention and 1 invalid, it was decided to dismiss the latter from their duties in the leadership of the Democratic Party.
Jemin Gjana, a member of the National Council, announced that 257 members took part in the voting, out of 478 members of the National Council.
The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi stated during the meeting of the National Council that the proposed names will not be expelled from the party but only dismissal from their function.
According to him, they did not respect the call for the development of the National Assembly of December 18, but organized parallel structures, referring to yesterday’s Assembly convened by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
A day after Sali Berisha convened the Assembly, the National Council considered Berisha’s move as anti-statutory and was an attempt to delegitimize the Democratic Party institutions until its dissolution as the most pro-Western force in the country.
Today, the National Council of the Democratic Party unanimously approved the resolution, which was proposed the day before by the chairman of the Democratic Party and condemns the move and actions taken by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
In this resolution, the Assembly of December 11 and all the decisions taken by it are considered null and void, while the resolution affirms that the National Assembly of December 18 is the only legitimate and comprehensive Assembly of Democrats.
It is also noted that the rally forged and used the symbols and logos of the Democratic Party in flagrant violation of statutory and legal norms.
