A Youtube model is believed to have killed herself after being bombarded with hate messages from online audiences instigated by rival network influencers.
21-year-old Kristina ‘Kika’ Dukic was found dead at her home in Belgrade on Thursday after what she described as “years of abuse” online.
The death of the famous internet girl who had more than a million followers on the network, was announced by her mother Natasha.
The post has already been removed from the network but he added that anyone who has suicidal thoughts should seek help from anyone who can and try to live a life as close to reality as possible, breaking free from network dependence.
A close friend of Mira Vladisavljevic, told the local Telegraf network in tears: “Something terrible happened last night. “I urge the media to report any case of girls being harassed or bullied online for a long time.”
In a series of posts the late Kristina confessed that she was under the pressure of hate posts for years on her networks. She added that “whatever he did was not enough”.
Kristina tended to further explain to critics that she just wanted to be happy doing what she wanted in life, and then described the hate messages she received.
These included those about her appearance and allegations that she had undergone plastic surgery.
One of her main critics was Serbian video game championship player Bogdan Ilic, also known as Baka Prase, with many followers on the net.
He regularly tracked her videos and called them “fake” along with other attacks and insults, reports the local network ‘Republika’.
The daily added that he encouraged his followers to bombard Christina with hate messages, including one that read: “Kill yourself.”
From the event Bogdan has tried to distance himself from the situation, claiming to be friends with him.
The other local network, Direktno, wrote that Bogdan had been one of the first to learn of her death.
“I am just sorry for what happened. “I am sorry that I did not announce that we had become friends before the event”, he added.
“I’m sorry because people accuse me in vain. “They do not leave the dead in peace just to get some likes on the net, it is very ugly,” he added.
Christina’s last post on November 11, wrote: “She said, ‘Where are we going?’ I said, ‘On the moon.’ “
The circumstances of her death are being investigated, the Serbian interior ministry said.
