At a time when the whole world is in a “war” to provide as much of the anti-Covid vaccine as possible, cases of dose theft are extremely worrying.
One such incident took place at the vaccination center in Kos, Greece, where police launched an investigation following a complaint that six doses of the Pfizer vaccine had been stolen.
A person who was at the vaccination center along with a doctor informed the authorities that someone had taken the doses. Greek media suggest that the disappearance of doses was observed at the end of the process when the remaining doses were being counted.
Police authorities took evidence of all persons present as investigations continued. There are suspicions that a counting error was also made.
This is the second time that vaccine doses are missing in Greece. The first time was about a month ago at a vaccination center in Peristeri . In that case, the nurse had just taken the doses out of the fridge and after leaving it on a table, took a short break, but when she returned to vaccinate an elderly man, the doses were gone.
