Desmond Llewelyn’s James Bond archive will be auctioned for a starting bid of $12,000.
Items owned by the ‘Q’ actor from the 007 franchise up for auction include scripts with notes, call sheets and a photo book from ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’.
They will be available from Nate D Sanders Auctions in the US on July 28, with online bids accepted starting at around £10,000.
The auctioneer said it was a “brilliant James Bond archive with memorabilia from the only actor to have worked with five James Bond actors, from Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan”.
Llewelyn, who died aged 85 in 1999 after a car crash, played MI6 ‘tool master’ ‘Q’ in 17 Bond films from 1963 until his death.
This made him the longest-running actor in the franchise, with his sequences showing Bond the latest in espionage technology some of the most beloved in the films.
His revised film scripts up for auction are said to be in “very good condition” and include scripts for the 007 films On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only and “Octopussy”.
The custom leather-clad photo book for Tomorrow Never Dies was prepared for the cast of the film.
Also in the auction are “approximately nine call sheets for various James Bond films” and a letter “giving Llewelyn permission to carry a James Bond prop bag containing high-tech equipment to be used to promote the film “Octopussy”. Also included is a copy of Llewelyn’s biography.
