Today marks one year since the tragic accident on the highway in Slavonski Brod in Croatia, where 10 people lost their lives and 45 others were injured in the bus with Kosovo license plates.
There were 67 passengers in the bus, including children and two drivers, while nine passengers and one driver lost their lives.
The bus had left from Frankfurt, Germany, towards Pristina and belonged to a company from Kosovo, while it had an accident on the A3 Zagreb-Lipovac highway.
10 lives closed their eyes forever on that fateful day are the driver Nasser Sylmetaj, born in 1974, Gjakova; Leonora Gjota-Kolmekshaj, born in 1982, Junik – Deçan and her mother Gjyle Maloku, Valentina Binakaj and her daughter Erlinda Binakaj; Sevdail Rrustemi, born in 1973, Pakshtica e Eperme – Podujevë; Kujtim Kastratiborn in 1981, Radostë; Hamet Hoxhaborn in 1966 Randobrava – Gjakovë; Anjeza Bellanica AND Alinda Iprijaj, mother of 5 children.
President Vjosa Osmani announced a day of mourning in Kosovo, July 25, due to this tragic accident.
According to the Croatian media, the drivers of the bus from Kosovo with immigrants from Frankfurt to Pristina had rested in Bregana for half an hour before the accident.
There they were changed and the other driver took over the driving of the bus. It is assumed that the accident was caused by driver fatigue.
This was described as the most tragic accident on the roads of Croatia in the last 15 years.
