Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during a speech at an annual forum in Romania has criticized Western allies, who he claims are trying to impose foreign values on his country and also the EU and US strategy towards Ukraine.
“The strength, performance, prestige and ability to act of Western civilization are declining,” Orban, the right-wing, Moscow-friendly politician, told thousands of supporters in the Romanian resort town of Baile Tusnad today.
Orban described himself as a defender of Hungary’s cultural and political identity from bureaucrats in Brussels.
Orban also touched on the war in Ukraine, criticizing the West for ignoring Russia’s security concerns before Moscow launched the invasion.
“With US President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, this war would never have happened,” he said, guided by the assessment that these politicians would have pursued policies friendly to Russia.
