A Delaware judge ruled that Elon Musk’s legal team’s request for an extension will not happen. That leaves Twitter with a chance to get its chance to start the trial in October. Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick found that any delay would threaten and do irreparable harm to the cause itself.
The bigger issue is that Elon Musk’s decision to back out of the deal to buy Twitter is fraught with inconsistencies. McCormick fears that many facts deemed urgent to be discovered may be lost if this trial is delayed any longer. The Delaware Court of Chancery is used to dealing with high profile cases like this, they know how to handle them to perfection.
There is a master plan to move forward with the trial as quickly as possible. Plus, any further delays in the lawsuit leave Twitter in dire financial straits as they hoped to sell the platform and cut their market value dramatically. In their opinion, the leaders of the platform are convinced that this was a move by Elon Musk to sink Twitter. A fixed date for the trial has not yet been set.
