The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Iryna Venediktova, has reacted by saying that she will not discuss President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to suspend her.
An investigation is currently being conducted in her office, after Zelensky fired her.
“I have not discussed this issue with anyone. And now I’m refraining from commenting for a simple reason, it’s not the right time. As soon as the phase of ‘resolving’ the existing situation is completed, in an adequate and comprehensible manner for all parties, I will give a comprehensive comment”she wrote on the official Facebook page.
Zelensky suspended Venediktova and the head of the country’s intelligence service, the SBU, Ivan Bakanov, on Sunday after announcing an investigation into their departments over the alleged presence of Russian collaborators.
According to CNN in her comment, Venediktova added that she would not argue the president’s decision or opinion, but said she was proud of her work.
“I have demonstrated good work results. I managed to unite the legal, professional and criminal procedural elite around the problems of Ukraine in the interest of Ukraine”, wrote the prosecutor.
“If the relevant resolution is registered on the walls of the Parliament of Ukraine, I will not hesitate for a second and will report to the people’s representatives”she concluded.
