A plane crashed this Saturday evening in the “Filipus” area near Kavalla in northern Greece.
The cargo plane with four engines had left Serbia for Jordan with ammunition.
The plane had departed from Nis. Crashed 35 miles north of airport Kavallas as there was fire reported in one of four engines.
The plane had traveled for 1 hour and 12 minutes and at the time of the crash it had a speed of 202 km/h.
There were 8 people on the plane, among them the crew and experts in the delivery of military materials. It is not known if all the people traveling on the plane are Serbs.
Reliable source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Greek told Top Channel that the cargo was not declared as armaments and the plane was not monitored with special procedures that are followed in cases of armaments.
It is suspected that the plane was transporting very secret weapons about which the Serbian government had not notified either NATO or its neighbors North Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Israel.
It is suspected that the cargo it had its final destination Russia where it would be sent via Jordan and without risking Serbia being accused of arming the party that commits war crimes in the conflict with Ukraine.
It exploded at a distance of 1-5 km from Kavalla airport. The plane crash has created problems with the electrification of the area near the scene.
Explosions can be heard in the area, while firefighters have stopped traffic in a diameter of 500 meters from the crash site.
The fate of the crew is still unknown, while emergency services are on their way to the area.
