Top Channel has provided the video of the moment when the dinghy in Jalë lost control and hit the couple of vacationers who were standing on the shore.
As can be seen in the video, after the lap it makes in the sea, the dinghy takes the direction towards the shore, where it loses control and crashes at high speed.
The cause of the incident is suspected to have been a wrong maneuver of the vehicle. The driver of the raft, Gjergji Priftuli, fell into the water, while the vehicle, out of control, headed for the shore.
A couple of Albanian tourists were injured. The 31-year-old with the initials AS has injuries to his ribs and face, while the 25-year-old with the initials E.Gj. there are light scratches. They were sent to Himara hospital, while the driver of the motorcycle was taken to the police.
This is the first incident that happened this year with the vessels. In order to avoid these situations, the police has prohibited the use of watercraft on beaches and in certain places where they are allowed, in the sea the trajectory that the vehicles follow has been targeted.
Years ago, on many beaches, in Velipoja, Durrës and Himare, there were incidents with boats that penetrated to the shore where vacationers were swimming, injuring them. From these accidents, there have also been fatal cases, such as the one in 2016 on the beach of Livadi, where a Russian vacationer lost his life while swimming after being hit by a boat.
