In the Macedonian parliament, the debate continues today on the content of the draft Negotiating Framework for the start of negotiations for membership in the European Union.
Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski insisted that in its current form, the European proposal for unblocking the integration process and opening negotiations, really reflects their defined positions.
Earlier, in her speech to the deputies, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who traveled to Skopje herself to show the importance of the acceptance of this plan, emphasized that with the green light to it, the country will take another step towards the EU and that now is the moment to move “towards a future of the bloc North Macedonia as a member with full rights”.
At the time when Kovačevski took the floor, the OBRM-PDUKM MPs made noise with horns and whistles so that his speech could not be heard and held placards “traitors of the people”, “language and identity”, “the people say no, be aware” .
Once again, the opposition legislators made it clear that they will not allow “the Constitution to be opened and changed” and accused that the proposed proposal violates language, identity and history and that “Bulgarianization” takes place.
The French proposal envisages the opening of talks with North Macedonia in two phases, the first would be immediately after the approval of the compromise by the parliament in Skopje and the second phase after the opening of the constitution and the recognition of the Bulgarian minority in it.
