Lawyers protested today in front of the High Judicial Council for the new map, which reduces the courts in the country and leaves only the Court of Appeal in Tirana. This has prompted lawyers to block and take the extreme decision to boycott court cases.
To talk about this issue, lawyer Ledio Braho, invited to Top Talk, said that lawyers are closely connected with the justice system and it is unfair that today their voice is not heard.
While talking about the justice reform, lawyer Braho said that the vetting did not start because the lawyers were corrupt, but because the prosecutors were. He said that it is not agreed that judges with problems should be re-entered into the justice system.
“Albania has tried it even without a lawyer, but today the lawyer is connected to the justice system. In all these years, the lawyers have not been heard. The justice system has been muddied for 30 years. The reform in justice did not start because the lawyers were corrupt, but the prosecutors were.
Albania has an active community of lawyers, but there are not many, because every type of conflict is taken to court, 3 thousand is not many. The vetting kicked out the incompetent prosecutors and judges out the door, but they re-entered the system through the window. This is the reform, I did not agree with this approach, but this is a fact today“, said the lawyer on Top Talk.
