The footage shows the dramatic moments when a group of British tourists on an excursion to a mountain gorge in Kazakhstan survive a giant avalanche that suddenly came down the mountainside.
The footage shows the avalanche of snow on the Tian Shan mountain, forcing the group to run for cover, only escaping the worst for a few seconds.
Luckily everyone escaped unhurt, with one person scratched from the fall and another being taken to hospital after falling from a horse.
Harry Shimm, who posted the video online, said that “if we had left the hiking trail two minutes later, we would all be dead.”
He said they had separated from a group of nine Britons and an American to reach the highest peak of the excursion.
“But soon we heard the ice cracking behind us and continued filming until we were forced to run to find shelter nearby.”
Then he explained about the risk they were forced to take: “We had the situation under control but the snow started to fall and the view became dark, it became difficult to breathe and we thought we were going to die.”
Harry added further: “Behind the rock we sheltered in it was bitterly cold, after the adrenaline rush of fear passed we started to feel the bitter cold.”
The Tianshan Mountains are divided between southeastern Kyrgyzstan and the border with China. They were part of the ancient Silk Road trade route that connected the West with the Middle East and Asia.
Their highest peak is Jengish Chokusu, 7,439 meters high.
