Today could be the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, with temperatures expected to reach 33C.
Parts of the UK will be hotter than the Maldives and Bahamas, with sunny weather set to last until the weekend according to Sky News.
In central, southern and eastern England, temperatures will rise on Monday afternoon as the latest heat wave continues.
Currently, the country’s record high for 2022 stands at 32.7 degrees C, at Heathrow on June 17.
On Sunday, Scotland and Northern Ireland had their hottest days of the year so far, recording 27.3C (81.1F) and 24.3C (75.7F) respectively.
Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst explained that high pressure is expected to “dominate” on Monday, particularly in England and Wales.
“In Scotland and Northern Ireland, it will be somewhat misty at times with dense cloud moving in from the north-west, which may bring some rain.”he added.
“But for most of us, it will be a dry and sunny day with highs in the 20s from the morning, with central, southern and eastern parts of England likely to see highs of 33C.
So it’s very possible that tomorrow will be the hottest day of the year so far, certainly on par with the existing record, maybe more.”he said.

Sky News forecaster Joanna Robinson added that record weather could be seen at the weekend.
“At the moment, temperatures are likely to reach the mid-thirties next weekend in the south, but there is currently a 30% chance that the UK record high temperature, which stands at 38.7C (102F), will be broken. “ she said.
“There is now a worrying 10% chance of 40C (104F) being reached in the UK for the first time.”
Heating alarm
In fact, the temperatures are expected to reach such levels that in some parts of the country a heat alert has been announced, which brings health concerns.
People in affected areas have been advised to cover their windows and check on the sick and elderly.
The UK Health Safety Agency and the Met Office have set a level 3 alert for the East of England, the South East and London.
A level 2 alert has been issued for the South West, East Midlands, West Midlands, North West and Yorkshire and the Humber regions.
A level 2 alert is issued when there is a “high chance” of predicted conditions, while a level 3 means there is a “90% probability”.
The alerts will be in effect from 9 a.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Friday.
After this week, the heat looks set to subside as a cold front is expected to begin moving into the country.
