A single record copy of the song “Blowin In The Wind” by artist Bob Dylan sold for $1.77 million at auction.
According to the auction house which carried out the sale in London, the disc contained a new version of the classic song, performed at Nars 2021 with his long-time collaborator T Bone Burnett.
The Grammy Award winner, an icon of American music since his early releases in the early 1960s, reunited with musician and producer Joseph Henry to deliver this hit single. The artist is said to have written the song in just 10 minutes in a coffee shop in New York in 1962. The $1.77 million auction price exceeded initial expectations, selling for more than originally thought.
Meanwhile, we recall that Bob Dylan has made another big move in preserving his musical heritage. Sony Music Entertainment (SME) announced the purchase of the 11-time Grammy winner’s entire back catalog of recorded music for an as-yet undisclosed sum, in addition to the rights to the upcoming new single.
80-year-old Dylan celebrated the new deal and his long-standing relationship with SME-owned Columbia Records, which spans his 60-year career as an artist. In a statement made, he stated that:
Columbia Records and Rob Stringer have been nothing but good to me for many, many years and many records. I’m glad all my records can stay where they belong.
A recent lawsuit alleges that Bob Dylan, the Nobel Prize-winning singer-songwriter, gave a 12-year-old girl drugs and alcohol before sexually abusing her in 1965. / Top Albania Radio
