An Australian model told the media how her holiday on the island of Bali turned into a nightmare as she and her friend were robbed three times overnight.
Geena Coulson, 26, from Brisbane, was on a week-long trip to Bali last week when thieves emptied her bank account and took her mobile phone.
Left penniless and alone, locals told her she had to bribe the police to investigate, or pay the thieves to return her new iPhone.
Coulson and her friend were enjoying their vacation and one evening they were supposed to go to the Potato Head Beach Club.
They took two motorbike taxis and her friend was helping the driver use Google Maps directions on his mobile phone.
But as they travel through the narrow streets, a cunning thief snatches the mobile from her friend’s hand and makes off, setting off a dangerous high-speed chase.
“The driver who was chasing the cellphone thief was going at about 100 km/h and my friend was terrified.
But when Coulson’s driver arrived at the scene, another thief on a motorbike appeared and grabbed the Australian model’s mobile phone.
After returning to the room, the girls discovered that the thief had emptied the bank account, but the latter had happened by duplicating her bank card that she had used earlier at a machine.
The girls returned a week early from their vacation and promised to learn from what they had suffered from Indonesian criminals.
