The Operational Unit of the Traffic Police, in cooperation with the Traffic Police Sector in DVP Gjirokastër and that of the Sarandë Police Station, after the opening of this new axis for the circulation of vehicles, have immediately started monitoring the traffic, using Poliscan, 2 smart cars, automatic radars and patrols on the move with unlogged vehicles.
During the monitoring on this new road axis, from yesterday afternoon until these moments, violations in the direction of speed were mainly detected, by drivers who did not respect the speed limit signs on this road axis.
8 driving licenses were suspended and 54 measures were imposed for speeding, but without the additional sanction of driving license suspension.
In addition, 34 administrative measures have been imposed for the use of mobile phones, in some cases also for drivers who have been found filming the road, which constitutes a potential risk for drawing attention from driving, which results in involvement in road incidents.
13 measures were imposed for wrong overtaking and 21 measures for not using the seat belt.
The Road Police will continue monitoring this road axis and other national road axes, 24/7, using modern logistical tools that the Road Police already has in use, with the sole purpose of preventing road accidents.
The Traffic Police appeals to all road users to strictly respect the traffic rules and invites citizens to report any violation of the traffic rules to 112 and to the Digital Police Station.
