Democrat Dhurata Çupi has raised the concern today at the meeting of the Laws Commission for not examining the opposition’s request for a hearing with the High Judicial Council for the new judicial map.
In relation to this concern, Fatmir Xhafaj has supported Çupi’s concern, saying that he is not concerned about the date of the hearing, but about the lawyers’ strike, as it directly affects the citizens. He added that both the Ministry of Justice and the HCJ are in violation of the law, as there have been no trials for two weeks.
On the other hand, Klotilda Bushka clarified that the week of July 11 will be the week of the hearing regarding this matter.
Chupi Gift: We want to know the date when the hearing will take place with the Supreme Court of Justice, the KLP, the Minister of Justice and the National Chamber of Advocacy. As is known today, citizens are not represented in court proceedings as the Chamber of Advocates does not participate in trials. It is a sensitive matter and the citizens should be informed of the date of the hearing and the taking of measures.
Fatmir Xhafa: I find the concern of my colleague interesting, I am not concerned about the date of the court session, but I am more concerned about the lawyers’ strike, since the citizens are affected, and we represent the citizens. Even the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council are in violation of the law on this issue, it’s been two weeks since there was a trial because people are waiting for lawyers.
Clotilda Bushka: Of course you can’t postpone the hearing, but there are a lot of acts that need to be studied. It has been agreed that July 11 will be the hearing week. As for the claims of lawyers or others, they will be dealt with in the branches.
Oerd Bylykbashi: As Mr. Xhafa, we are here for the interest of the citizens. Here is the proof, what is being proposed is against the interest of those we are here to protect.
