A yoga teacher from Texas, USA who had shot dead a professional cyclist amid a cruel triangle of jealousy and love, was arrested today in Costa Rica after 43 days of international search, officials say.
Fugitive Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 43, was detained yesterday and will be deported to the US for the May 11 murder of Anna Moriah Wilson, a 25-year-old cyclist who had a brief romantic affair with Armstrong’s boyfriend, authorities said.
Professional cyclist Moirah Wilson was found dead in her Austin apartment on May 11.
She was there before competing in a race, as she was training with cyclist colleague Colin Strickland.
Wilson then started a brief relationship a few weeks with Strickland when she was separated from her partner.
But Strickland’s current girlfriend, yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, is believed to have learned about their previous relationship earlier this year.
The local daily Austin American Statesman wrote that “she had become obsessed with rage.”
Armstrong has already been charged with Wilson’s murder and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
Wilson was one of the best cyclists in the US for unpaved roads.
She was found shot dead at the address where she was staying.
Armstrong and Strickland had been in a relationship for three years while the husband’s brief affair with the cyclist occurred at a time when the couple were temporarily separated from each other.
The pair subsequently reunited, but Armstrong revealed about his adventure and was described as “shivering with rage” of jealousy.
At this time it is believed that unfortunately Strickland had bought two 9mm pistols one for himself and one for his girlfriend Armstrong.
When Wilson’s body was found, it was discovered that she had been shot several times with a 9mm pistol.
Legal tests showed that the weapon purchased from Strickland had been used for the murder of Wilson.
