Numerous Serb citizens left for Gazimestan this Tuesday to celebrate Vidovdan.
Due to incidents in the past, this year the Kosovo Police had implemented an operational plan for the progress of the holiday.
At the entrance to the courtyard where the monument honoring the Battle of Kosovo is located, police checked the bags of anyone intending to take part in the demonstration. Those who wore T-shirts with nationalist inscriptions were not allowed to participate without changing the T-shirt. A number of Serbs wore other T-shirts with inscriptions and symbols on them, so police control measures were tight, forcing them to take off their T-shirts.
A religious ceremony was also held in Gazimestan, where religious leaders spoke in front of the crowd.
Thus, the holy prince Lazarus went to the field of Kosovo with his army to sacrifice himself for what we are today, the Serbian people.
Citizens who visited Gezimestan came from Serb-majority cities in Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro. For them, “Vidovdan” is the history of the Serbian people.
“This is the most important day in Serbian history. It is the resurrection of our people. “
“Everyone knows that the Serbian Orthodox Church is older than America and the whole West. “Since yesterday we are in the field of Kosovo, you all know what importance Kosovo has for us”.
“I would like to thank everyone who came to support our people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as to feel the magic of Kosovo; “Since we Serbs are seen as not being welcomed by the so-called Kosovo authorities, we do not even use this date to be here.”
As every year, Vidovdan was celebrated to the sounds of Serbian nationalist music with provocative shouts that “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia” and “Kosovo and Metohija”. Despite police checks, Serbs managed to celebrate “Vidovdan” with Serbian and Russian flags, photos of Serbian criminal Voislav Seselj, and the letter “Z”.
