An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck near the western Algerian city of Oran on Sunday night, where the Mediterranean Games are taking place.
The announcement was made by the Research Center for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG), while thankfully no serious property damage and injuries were recorded.
According to the contacts with the Albanian Olympic team, there were some tremors at 20:17, 12 km north of Gdiel, the first one was recorded, about 20 km east of Oran, followed by two earthquakes with magnitude 3.2 and 4, reports in the meantime CRAAG.
Several houses were damaged in the town of Arzi, located about 40 km east of the town of Oran, as reported, by civil protection.
