The Special Court of Appeals has approved the request of the First Instance for the suspension from duty of doctor Edvin Prifti.
In February of this year, the court of first instance accepted the request of SPAK, not allowing him to exercise the duty of doctor, for one year. The decision was taken on February 28 and its suspension starts from this date until February 28, 2023. The suspension against the doctor was made at the request of SPAK, because according to the anti-corruption structure, he is accused of selling a biological valve for 1.1 million ALL. claiming he had bought it in private.
Edvin Prifiti had transplanted a woman, who later passed away. Her two sons were asking the doctor for the money he had taken from them for the valve, because their mother had not survived. The well-known doctor reported to his patient’s two sons that they were “squeezing him for giving property”.
The file ended up again in the hands of the SPAK prosecutors and this time at their request, the GJKKO suspended Edvin Prifti from office for the second time.
Decision of the Special Court of Appeal:
Today, on 24.06.2022, in the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, the decision was announced regarding the case no. 22, dated 15.06.2022 registration, with object Appeal against the decision of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, which has extended by 3 (three) months the personal security measure of prohibitive character “Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service”, provided by Article 242 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, determined by decision no. 13, dated 28.02.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, completely forbidding the right to exercise duty “in charge of the citizen EP, where the monocratic trial panel composed of Judge Dhimitër Lara, decided:
– Approval of decision no. 54, dated 28.05.2022 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
