In Brussels, negotiators from Kosovo and Serbia reached an agreement on electricity in the country’s four northern municipalities.
With the instruction for implementation of the previous agreements, the invoices will be collected in North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Leposavic.
And the citizens of these municipalities who have not paid any bills since the post-war period are ready to start making payments.
“If they pay at all, then so do I. If they all pay why not “- said a citizen.
“It’s still early. It has not started yet. It will start in a month, but we will pay for it “- said a citizen.
“I have no objection to the payment of electricity. It is a normal obligation, we will pay it “- said a citizen.
However, there were those who were not informed about the deal.
“What an agreement. I have no idea “- said the citizen.
From 1999 to 2017, electricity consumed by residents of the northern municipalities of the country was billed to other residents of Kosovo. Meanwhile, from 2017, the Government of Kosovo allocated about 100 million euros per year to cover electricity costs in the north of the country.
The instruction agreed upon by the parties in Brussels stipulates that the Serbian company Elektro Sever, which operates in the north of Kosovo, be licensed and collect bills.
