A powerful earthquake has struck eastern Afghanistan this morning, killing at least 255 people.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake had a magnitude of 6.1 and a depth of about 51 km.
The exact number of victims and injured in the earthquake that struck Paktika province is still unknown. The tremors were felt in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, and elsewhere in the eastern Punjab province.
The European Seismological Agency, EMSC, said the quake was felt over 500 kilometers by more than 119 million people across Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
