Fiks Fare denounced on Monday evening the screaming of cancer patients to do a resonance in public hospitals.
The scandals are taking place at the height of the debates on changing the law on “public hospitals”, where a draft law has been sent to the Assembly, which stipulates that “citizens who need to receive services quickly must pay”.
But, patients with serious illness have started wandering as much as from one state hospital to another to do only one resonance.
The editorial office of the investigative show “Fiks Fare” received a complaint from a citizen from Kuçova, who had a family concern about services in state hospitals.
“My wife underwent surgery 7 years ago and has to have oncological examinations. I was recommended to do an MRI Magnetic Resonance. We went from Kuçova to the Berat Regional Hospital and we were told that it is not done in Berat, there is no resonance “says the citizen. He further claims that the doctors told him that these resonances are performed at the Elbasan Regional Hospital. The doctor referred them to the system at the Elbasan Hospital, which is 70 kilometers away from the Berat Hospital. The doctor told the citizen that all patients in the districts of Berat, Dimali, Kuçova and Skrapar are referred to Elbasan. “The doctor told us the referral to the Elbasan Hospital. We went there. But, even there we were told that it is not done here either ‘, we have never done it. But, Elbasan could not refer us to QSUT, because the system did not allow it “says the citizen.
Together with his sick wife, they returned to Berat. They met the oncologist, who told them that she too could not be referred to the University Hospital Center, because the system did not allow it. “Oncology is not to blame.
He told us that the system does not allow me to go to Tirana, but only to Elbasan. He gave us a handwritten letter to QSUT “says the citizen, who adds that he also went to Tirana, to Oncology.
The employees told him that “you have no reference, you should be interested in the directorate of QSUT”. “The directorate told me that the system is to blame if we do it. They supposedly made me a friend, but left me for the end of August. “After wandering for two months, I will wait another two months to have this resonance,” says the citizen.
After this complaint, the journalists of Fiks Fare, follow the same path that the citizen has followed. Initially, we travel from Kuçova to Berat, which is about 20 kilometers, which lasts about 30 minutes.
The Fiks Fare journalist talks to the employees of the Oncology Department at the Berat Regional Hospital, where she learns that patients from all over the region are referred to Elbasan. Afterwards, the journalists take the road to Elbasan, which is about 70 kilometers long, a road that runs for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Again we are interested in whether or not Magnetic Resonance Imaging is performed in this hospital. Employees claim that “They have never done MRI Magnetic Resonance. We told those in Berat that we do not do MRI scanners, but they still bring them to us “.
Like the citizen, the journalists go back and go again to the Berat Regional Hospital, which is 70 km away. This time, the journalist talks to the oncologist, who says that “The system does not allow us to refer to Tirana, but only to Elbasan.”
Now, citizens have to travel 120 kilometers, over 2 and a half hours to get to Tirana. “I did it up and down several times, we lost working days, expenses and endless fatigue,” says the citizen.
What about the hospitals in Tirana, is this resonance done ?! Fiksi is initially interested in the Oncology Hospital at QSUT. An employee tells the journalist that “you have to contact a doctor to give you the recommendation”.
Then, the journalist is interested in the Directorate of QSUT. “I have had other cases with this problem. The system did not take it. The ministry is to blame, ”say the employees.
Everyone blames the system! So, from the Oncology of Berat, the department of scanners and resonances in the Hospital of Elbasan, or the Oncology and the Directorate of QSUT. In the end, those who pay dearly are the citizens, who after these wanderings, are forced to turn to private hospitals! Fiksi sent a request for information to the Ministry of Health, but until the transmission of this investigation, the ministry did not respond.
“It has taken me more up and down the road than doing it in private. But here it belongs to me and here I will do it. As the case of my family there are hundreds of cases who are being forced to pay“, Says the citizen.
And, all these rumors at the height of the debates for the amendment of the law “on public hospitals”, where a draft law was sent to the Assembly that provided for the payment of citizens in state hospitals for a fast service. But, was “health is free”, which has now started to be paid ?!
