Twenty-two foreign nationals swore before the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for loyalty to the Albanian State and respect for the Constitution and the legislation of the Republic of Albania, officially obtaining Albanian citizenship, among them MP Avdullah Hoti.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Veliaj said the city of Tirana is destined to grow. “In these 102 years as the Capital we have had an extraordinary experience – it started as a small town, and today is the European Capital of Youth. The city years grew by 32 thousand inhabitants, or otherwise 10 thousand apartments and 10 thousand cars. “Tirana is a city that is only growing and services to citizens require the standards we have set these years,” he said.
While praising the youngest citizens for the choice they have made, Veliaj said that obtaining Albanian citizenship should be considered a mission for progress and to advance the ambitions of our country.
He underlined that although Albania is a small country, it makes an important contribution. “A large part of the brothers and sisters who join today with the new citizenship, are from Kosovo and have very fresh wound and all the tragedy of the war. The importance of having progressive cities, open-minded cities, cities where we find the reasons that unite us, not look at the differences we have with each other, are the cities of the future! Therefore, I am glad that today, 22 young citizens join our city, our state, and our mission for an Albania that makes progress, and for a country that is being modernized day by day “, stressed the Mayor.
After reading the formula, 22 citizens from Kosovo, USA, Egypt, Turkey and Syria, signed the oath.
