The minimum wage in the country has changed 8 times in 12 years.
The last movement was in April of this year, reaching the value of 32 thousand ALL, 2 thousand ALL more than in the previous year.
The most common jumps from year to year have been with 2 thousand ALL, except here only 2021, where influenced by the pandemic period, the minimum wage changed by 4 thousand ALL, the largest change suffered over the years.
In 2010, the minimum wage was 13 thousand ALL less than now, reaching the value of 19 thousand ALL. During the years 2011 – 2013 the minimum wage increased by 1 thousand ALL after each year, stopping at 22 thousand ALL in 2013.
This value remained constant for a full 5 years, changing only in 2018, where the minimum wage reached 24 thousand ALL.
During the years 2019 -2020 the minimum wage reached 26 thousand ALL and remained constant again for two years, until 2021. An increase of 20 thousand ALL for 2023 has been promised.
Compared to the region, Albania is in the penultimate place, leaving behind only Kosovo, which after debates approved the new minimum wage, 250 Euros. Montenegro holds the first place with a value of 533 Euros as a minimum wage, followed by Serbia 401 Euros, Northern Macedonia 359 Euros and Bosnia and Herzegovina 300 Euros.
