Aurel Vula is one of the doctors suspected of trafficking anti-COVID drugs from Italy to Albania and falsifying prescriptions for medical services in Italy.
He is the husband of the well-known lawyer Zhaklina Peto, who has also been a candidate for the Constitutional Court.
Vula has denied involvement in this criminal scheme, stressing that their visit to Italy was for health reasons.
His statement
Taking into account the announcement made public in recent days by the Italian justice authorities, I would like to inform the Albanian public as follows:
The involvement of my person and my family in this announcement has nothing to do with the reality built into the media these days.
To be transparent, the reasons for our family visits to Italy have been entirely health-related, endangering the lives of both of my wife’s parents. The latter two underwent repeated heart surgeries from where the wife’s mother also lost her life. All these health events are documented by the Italian hospital authorities. Based on the family drama about the loss of a loved one, this event creates high sensitivity for me and my family.
I am a pediatrician and I declare with full responsibility that at no time:
➢ I have not issued any accompanying certificates or epicrisis for patients suggested for hospitalization in Italy;
Kam I have not issued any document of any nature that could facilitate the border crossing procedures of Albanian citizens during the pandemic in the Italian state;
I urge all media to respect my professional and moral integrity which I have built with dedication and sacrifice at all times to help every patient, not to mention the contribution during the pandemic period as a result of Sars-Cov 19.
At the same time, I thank all my loved ones, colleagues and patients for the support shown through the countless messages and phone calls these days.
With full confidence in justice.
