In retail outlets in Kosovo, oil is being sold for one euro and eighty-two cents, the highest price since March.
Price fluctuations have pushed the Ministry of Industry, Trade Entrepreneurs to take new measures.
In the name of consumer protection this ministry has proposed limiting profit to three cents for oil wholesalers and for retailers ten cents profit.
This proposal of the Ministry of Trade has been opposed by the Kosovo Petroleum Association.
They are demanding the reduction of excise and VAT, or even the imposition of profit margins on 3% wholesalers and 12% retailers. On the contrary, they say that all fuel outlets in Kosovo will be closed.
However, this will be done in case the Government does not respond to a letter delivered to them on Thursday.
In March this year the Ministry of Trade set the profit margin for oil traders.
For retailers the profit would be 6% and for wholesalers 4%. With this decision, all oil traders were forced to keep 5% of the product in reserve due to the crisis.
