At least 50 dead and injured is the balance of the disaster that rocked Pakistan, where two passenger trains collided with each other near Dharki, a town located in the Ghotki region.
As a result of the collision, several carriages of one of the trains were overturned, blocking people inside them. This has made the work of rescue teams difficult.
Because paramedics are unable to get into all the overturned wagons, officials fear the death toll could be even higher.
Ghotki regional deputy head Usman Abdullah said 13 or 14 wagons derailed after the accident, and 6 or 8 were completely destroyed.
Rescuing the survivors, according to him, has become a real challenge, as heavy machinery will have to be used to get them out of the badly pressed wagons.
In order to provide the necessary assistance directly to the injured, an improvised medical camp has been set up nearby. Investigations continue immediately in order to find out the causes of the tragic accident.
