The ninth President of the Republic of Albania will be a military man.
The Socialists elected the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and voted him to be the new head of state.
The legal representative of the current President Ilir Meta, Bledar Dervishaj, invited to the show “Top Story” gave his opinion on Bajram Begaj.
Knowing the military well, as he says that they are also his family, Dervishaj says that “as such, I see Begaj correct”.
“I have noticed correctness during the contacts during these two years, when he was in charge of the General Staff. In my expectation I see correctness. “The military is strict in their behavior, they are very disciplined, I consider political non-existence as something positive.”
Bajram Begaj was elected President of the Republic of Albania on Saturday with 78 votes in favor, 4 against and 1 abstention. From a calculation of the figures, it seems that we have an outflow of votes from the opposition, if we bring to attention the 74 mandates of the SP and 3 of the PSD.
Former Chief of General Staff Bajram Begaj will be Ilir Meta’s successor and will remain at the helm of the state for the next five years.
