The U.S. House of Representatives passed a $ 1.9 trillion stimulus bill to help the economy, according to media reports.
Lawmakers approved the bill with 219 votes in favor and 212 against.
Two Democrats, Jared Golden of Maine and Kurt Schrader of Oregon joined the Republicans in voting against.
The aid package is now being addressed to the US Senate.
Democrats are expected to change it and send it back to the House of Representatives for approval before unemployment benefits expire on March 14, the ATS reports.
Biden wants to use the package to stimulate the economy and create millions of new jobs.
Among other things, it provides direct payments to private households, funding measures for coronavirus tests and vaccine distribution, as well as additional assistance to the unemployed.
Recall that the death toll from the coronavirus in the US reached half a million and President Joe Biden warned the nation to be careful.
