The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj participated in the inauguration of the new complex of football fields in Kombinat, where a mini-championship between the ages of U-11 was played.
In this event, Veliaj was accompanied by the President of the Regional Association of Tirana, Eduard Prodani, the former player of the Albanian national team, Afrim Tola and journalist Dritan Shakohoxha.
Veliaj said that the future belongs to children and that everyone should become one, to advance projects for them.
“I know that each of us has his own political beliefs, some are left, some are right, but when it comes to children we are all one – we want things to go forward, for children to engage in sports activities“, Said Veliaj.
He stressed that the will to work together must prevail over political convictions.
“Afrim Tola is one of the most successful stories of Kombinat, former player of the National Team and of all teams in Tirana. Approach is not left, nor is he a member of my party. But, we fight the political battles every four years, and the rest of the four years, we work together, for Kombinati to move forward, for Tirana to move forward. The parties come and go, the Combine will be here, Tirana will be here and Albania will be here. The plant was the area most affected by the earthquake and the question we need to ask ourselves is: What is important in life? Are the parties, the left and the right, or is it the family, the society, is it the community, is it our community, the brotherhood that we have with each other ?! ”he stressed.
The Mayor stated that the story is written by those who go down to the field and not by those who comment from the tribune.
“It does not matter the uniforms, it matters the humanity, it matters that we all have an invisible thread that connects us to each other, as neighbors, as citizens, as people living in Tirana, as people who love the Combine and as people who value those who work and those who earn. There are many people standing on the steps and in the stands, wondering how to score a goal. This is a metaphor, both in the field, and in politics, and in business, and in society, and in the city. The point is that the goal is scored only by those who go down on the field“, Declared Veliaj.
Former player of the Albanian National Team, Afrim Tola encouraged Mayor Veliaj for his initiative to add sports fields.
“What I would ask from all parents is to pay special attention to children. And I would tell the mayor to continue with these initiatives, to make as many areas as possible, so that children have a place to play “said Tola.
While, the well-known sports journalist, Dritan Shakohoxha said that the Kombinat area will recognize many other projects in order to mass sport.
