The Socialist Party will convene the party leadership this Friday.
The meeting will take place at 15:00, while the main focus of discussions will be the election of the new president.
The evening of Saturday, June 4, 2022 is expected to find Albania with a new president elected only with the votes of the SP.
The socialist majority will have to submit the candidate together with 20 proposing firms by 12:00 on the same day.
Then it will be the Law Commission that will send the relevant report to the assembly to pave the way for voting in the special parliamentary session, from where the president is elected with only 71 votes after the exhaustion without a candidate of the first three rounds.
Fatmir Mediu did not hesitate to point out the culprit for the impossibility of electing a consensual president with 84 votes.
At a time when Enkelejd Alibeaj and two other opposition parliamentary groups failed to bring in a candidate for the first three rounds, he showed no interest in this fourth round.
It remains to be seen whether Alibeaj and his supportive MPs will be in the hall on June 4 or will boycott as they did on Monday in the third round.
Sources from the SP told Top Channel that so far it is preferable for the candidate to come from the field of justice without specifying concrete names.
