After the failure of the Fund of Excellence that financially supported Albanian students to be educated in the 15 best universities in the world, a project which has started since 2007, the Ministry of Education has decided that the budget of this fund in the amount of 200 mln. lekë per year to the best young people who choose to be educated in their country.
According to yesterday’s government decision, graduates with a grade point average above 8.5 and the winning students of the first 3 places in international olympiads, will not only be exempted from the tuition fee, but will also receive a scholarship equal to the minimum wage, if they choose one of priority branches.
“The cost of a student through this assistance goes to around 15 million ALL in 5 years and the investment must be returned. I’m afraid it does not end up as a fund of excellence that students did not return to state institutions, so this time the job market for them must be safe…“, Says Valbona Nathanaili.
Are these 35 study programs in the fields of agriculture, tourism or natural sciences, announced by the Ministry of Education as a national priority, seen as such by young people themselves?
“I am not tempted at all by money, because in those branches I have no inclination. I want to continue for nursing, tomorrow at work to go willingly“, Says a graduate.
Will the audiences be filled to the brim in these priority disciplines next academic year, or will they continue to be vacated?
In a request for information, the Ministry of Education told Top Channel that there is still no forecast of the number of beneficiaries, as they are awaiting the average grade of the state matura exams; but based on the data of the last graduation Top Channel calculates that the number of beneficiaries is more than 10 thousand graduates out of 32 thousand that are in total, however even though the good graduates are in total about 40%, some of them leave for studies outside Albania and others are free in the selection of branches to follow and do not consider a priority for their future, the priority branches of the Ministry of Education.
