The scene shows moments of horror when a ‘zombie’ shark attacks its prey a few inches away from a stunned diver, in the event that has gone viral on the internet.
36-year-old Euan Rannachan, was on the island of Guadalupe, 160 km off the coast of Mexico when the great white shark came to his sight and began to move around.
Euan was filming from a metal cage hanging from the boat on the surface, to shoot the best shots up close.
The shark that swam its prey rose near the surface where it bit the prey and slammed it into the water.
As he swam with his prey he opened his mouth to show his sharp teeth, as he further chewed the prey disappearing from view.
“I have seen this shark again, I do not remember the name but it is a female who comes here on the island,” Euan told NeedToKnow.online.
“Guadeloupe is a beaten migration route for many marine species, including seals, so it is a favorite hunting ground for sharks.”
“We donate our images to the Marine Conservation Science Index group in Mexico, who compile an archive of data on all the sharks they encounter.
Euan explained why sharks close their eyes when they attack prey: “They close their eyes because sometimes their prey fights. “So the shark creates a shield in his eyes to make sure they are not damaged during the battle.”
This surprised many viewers of the YouTube network, as one of them said: “Here we are dealing with” 100% a zombie shark. “
While another disagreed: “It’s not a zombie, it’s just eye protection from debris or blood.”
Euan added: “I have loved sharks since I was a child, but I have only started swimming with them since 2016.”
“After a while I could not do without them and started bringing people to Guadeloupe to see the sharks.
