But the tightening of legal sanctions has failed to curb a massive activity of stealing television broadcasts by pirated entities.
Theft of television broadcasts through cables as a phenomenon, was born with the opening of the “pay tv” market. So, pay if you will have access to various TV channels or events.
In recent years television broadcasting has undergone a radical transformation. From the old analog local televisions, with very poor quality, certain subjects, made a bunch of channels and through the cable system transmitted it to the subscribers for a fee.
Thus was born the phenomenon of cable operators and with it, the phenomenon of piracy, or more simply, the theft of signal and products from legal companies.
The Audiovisual Media Authority has licensed over 80 cable operators across the country. But only a small percentage operate in accordance with the rules. From the inspections carried out, at least 65 operators were found permanently with serious violations.
Cable operators that are licensed by AMA must have a contract with various platforms such as digitalb, Tring or Albanian Radio and Television. But, for the most part, they prefer to cross the boundaries of contracts and pirate by broadcasting channels and events for which they are not authorized to broadcast.
