Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday hailed the European Union’s new package of sanctions against Moscow, but also criticized the bloc for the gap of more than 50 days between the fifth and sixth rounds of sanctions.
“More than 50 days have passed since the fifth package of sanctions, this is unacceptable for us.” said Zelensky at a conference with Slovak Prime Minister Zuzana Caputova in Kiev.
On Monday, European Council leaders reported that the EU agreed to ban 90% of Russian oil imports by the end of the year.
According to CNN, Ursula von der Leyen has stated that Russian oil will be banned but excluding the southern segment of the Druzhba pipeline which accounts for 10% of Russian oil imports.
The northern segment of the pipeline serves Poland and Germany, which have agreed on an embargo, while the southern part goes to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
