Italian police investigations have revealed how drug trafficking, mainly heroin, worked in the Padua area.
The leader of the organization is Jamel Chebbi, otherwise known as “Jack” or “Michael Jackson”, 49 years old, originally from Tunisia, who has been arrested. He collaborated with Albanians and Italians while the main point of drug trafficking was in Padua.
investigation
It all started in 2020 with several reports of drug trafficking in the Mortise area of Padua, after which police identified a Tunisian (now known to police but escaped) and then arrested a colleague of his, identified as Paduan Franco Inglese, write Italian media.
Telephone and environmental wiretaps, surveillance and video footage confirmed the suspicions, leading to second-hand arrests. Initially it was the person who contradicted Ingelese and a few days later, on October 28, the Albanian courier, identified as Memaj, was arrested. He had 750 grams of heroin with him.
Memaj’s movements made it possible to find the place where the drugs were prepared, in the province of Bosaro of Rovigo, where 32 kilograms of heroin were seized.
Courier Memaj
Inglese’s arrest forced the rest of the gang to reorganize, changing phone numbers, moving heroin and replacing the accomplice figure. But the crucial arrest was precisely that of Memaj, along with some notes seized inside the Bosaro refinery. Memaj was the gang courier and was the one who contributed to the investigation, explaining to investigators the meaning of a notebook note, which contained accounting, customer and delivery data. It turned out that Memaj’s deliveries to Padua had started on July 13, 2020 and, in a few months, amounted to 47 kg of heroin and half a kilogram of cocaine, against payments of 260 thousand euros.
Group leader
Who was all this heroine meant for? The leader of the gang, Jamel Chebbi, a 49-year-old Tunisian, was the leader of a group called “Life”. He coordinated the subsequent buying and selling, without ever exposing himself: he sent his associates, including Franco Inglese, to get the heroin, which he then entrusted to two vendors, known as Karim and Triki, also Tunisians. Everyone referred to Chebbi as the “boss.” After Inglese’s arrest, Chebbi worried about how to curb the consequences and avoid connecting with him.
vendors
Inglese, as soon as he got the drugs, handed them over to the retailers and personally sold a part of it. For this, he was accompanied by his assistant, who managed to secure various appointments. He warned the rest of the group when Inglese was arrested. “Karim” and “Kalonga” are the last link in the chain, those who are responsible for preparing the doses and reselling them at retail. Proceeds from the sale were handed over to Chebbit.
Traffic from Albania
Other persons of Albanian origin were involved in the heroin supply chain. This was revealed by several observations conducted in October 2020 in Modena. Courier Memaj gave a few kilos to Ervis Hasko and Ingrit Ballsh. Ballshi is involved in the past in heroin and cocaine trafficking from Albania to Italy.
The last five suspects had minor roles, mostly “taxi drivers” for the rest of the group. Searches conducted in recent hours have made possible the arrest of El Chebbit, who had with him caramelized heroin ready to be sold.
