South Korean carmaker Hyundai is seeking the return of 239,000 cars to fix a problem with seat belts, which appear to be in danger of exploding and injuring passengers.
According to the US Traffic and Highway Administration, Hyundai’s US subsidiary is looking for Accent, Elantra and Elantra HEV models, manufactured from 2019 to this part of 2022. Officials stress that there is a risk that in the event of a collision driving on the side of the driver or front passenger, seat belts explode and cause injury.
The concerns started after reports that three people were injured due to the belt after the collision of the cars of this production they were driving. Two of the incidents were recorded in the United States, and another in Singapore.
Authorities have called on all drivers who are suspected of having problems to be notified of the situation by July 15, and to take the necessary measures to resolve the stalemate.
