A Ukrainian refugee at the center of a love triangle in Britain spoke to the media in tears yesterday, insisting that “I am not a family breaker”
29-year-old Tony Garnett and his wife Lorna, who have two daughters, agreed to house 22-year-old Ukrainian Sofiia Karkadym in their home to do their “duty” to help refugees.
But ten days later Lorna rightly accused the blonde of ‘putting her eye’ on her husband.
After a short argument, Sofia had packed up and left, but Lorna was stunned when her husband and her husband came out of the door to follow her.
Sofia, which left Lviv to Poland since the war with Russia, told the British daily The Sun: “I’m not breaking up families, they are lies.”
“I never thought of going into their house to steal Tony from Lorna.
“I liked the family. I spent a lot of time with Lorna and tried to help her. “But she had two faces.”
“Her constant suspicion and tension prompted us to get closer to Tony.”
“It’s her fault that this situation was created.”
Sofia tells how she is now accused that her actions are making British families not accept refugees from Ukraine.
She goes on to say: “My parents say they are ashamed of me and can not go out.”
“They say that now from what I did no family in Britain will accept refugees from Ukraine.”
Sofiia insists there was no one between her and Tony until they left the couple’s house in Bradford, in northern Britain.
The family had taken Sofiia to do “their part” to help the refugees, while Tony indicated earlier that he quickly became attached to her, and even his two six- and three-year-old daughters liked him.
Tony, who speaks the Slovak language he speaks to the Ukrainian, says the situation left his wife unaware of what was happening.
“At first we had a good time but then I saw that Lorna was becoming jealous and angry with her,” says Tony, adding that then Sofia went to the gym with him and when they were at home they became more and more physically close.
“When we were at home we found reasons to touch or collide with each other. “Although in the beginning it was innocent, debates started to arise.”
Lorna had rightly asked for a solution to the uncomfortable situation until the debate had come to the point of the Ukrainian leaving the house.
Sofia, an IT graduate in Kyiv, also denied Lorna’s claims that she always wore open t-shirts and wore makeup whenever it was time to Tony was returning from work.
