Instat data show that during 2020 enterprises that have used computers for work purposes represent 98.3% of economic enterprises, from 97.5% that was in 2019.
Computers are the most widely used by employees of enterprises operating in the field of information and communication at the rate of 75.5%, while less use is observed in the activities of manufacturing and construction, respectively with only 8% and 16.2% of employees.
The situation with the pandemic also significantly stimulated the online sales of businesses, especially during the 3-month period of total quarantine, which gave a big boost to the development of this industry.
According to Instat, last year, 12.8% of them realized sales of their products or services online through websites or dedicated applications, significantly more than in 2019 when this indicator resulted in only 5.8%.
The largest share of e-commerce is occupied by enterprises operating in the field of accommodation, food service activities, followed by information and communication.
The coronavirus pandemic highlighted, among other things, the great power of social media, as their use marked a significant increase a year ago. Most businesses, about 89.7% of them used platforms like Facebook, Instagram or other networks to improve their image or to launch new products in the market.
