The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said yesterday that Israel had continued airstrikes inside Syrian territory against Iranian military bases and military targets.
Three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike south of the capital Damascus launched from bases in the Golan Heights, Israeli media reported, citing the defense ministry.
Syrian media said anti-aircraft systems had been activated to intercept “hostile targets” in the capital’s skies, but did not say whether they had shot down aircraft or enemy missiles.
Several flights were delayed at Damascus airport as a result of the attacks, while explosions were also heard in the Syrian coastal areas.
The south of Damascus has been the target of several attacks attributed to Israel in recent weeks, the most serious of which was where four Syrian soldiers were killed on the outskirts of Damascus.
Recently, rocket fire on Israeli fighters by the Syrian army has intensified, in an escalation of the situation in the still open conflict in the Middle East.
