On May 20, 20 years ago, Ilir Cumani together with the then President of the Academy of Sciences, Ylli Popa, launched the proposal to declare May 20 as the National Day of Orphans.
A day of remembrance that appeals to all of us to reflect, to be more human and more just.
On this day, the Municipality of Tirana awarded the high medal of gratitude to Ilir Çumani, director of the National Institute for the Integration of Albanian Orphans.
Acknowledgments were also received by Perikli Culi, Ema Qazimi, Tefta Cami, Kolec Traboini, Shyqyri Sako, Lëkë Sokoli, Mimika Luca, Bujar Asqeriu, Bejkush Birce. They all had a memory from their childhood, as adult orphan personalities.
