A 48-year-old man with two surnames and a problem with the law in the past was killed this Tuesday evening in Sukth.
The incident happened around 20.30 when 48-year-old Arben Mërkuri Ismaili was in his shop in the center of Sukth. Despite the crowded road of the area covered by security cameras, still unidentified persons approached in front of the store with a ‘benz’ SUV and opened fire in the direction of their target. The 48-year-old was seriously injured in the shooting and died a few minutes later in hospital.
To clarify the event, the police focused on the past of Arben Mërkuri, who was also known in the area by the nickname Maneci.
He is suspected and investigated for some serious crimes but justice has not been able to put him behind bars. Mercury is also known for its connection with Pëllumb Muharrem, known by the nickname ‘rrumi’, described as the ‘strongman of Shijak’.
Mërkuri and Muharremi together with another person were handcuffed by the Tirana police after it is suspected that in September 2016 they raped the Lebanese businessman Faad Mitri. In November 2019, Pëllumb Muharremi was in the company of the prosecutor already fired by the vetting Arjan Ndoja when the latter was assassinated in the Shkozet overpass.
