Mount Etna on the Italian island of Sicily, has extracted lava and ash fountains from two open hearths in the southeastern crater, for the sixth time in a row in the last eight days.
The lava fountains have even reached heights of over 400 meters.
Etna has amazed even volcanologists themselves in recent days, with spectacular lava fountains that have lit up the Sicilian sky almost every night.
For more than a week, Etna regularly emits lava, ash, and volcanic rock. The nearby Catania airport was closed even temporarily and residents of the town of Pedara said they had even seen rocks falling like rain while a thick layer of ash covered the town.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries. At 3,324 meters high, Mount Etna is the tallest active volcano in Europe and has erupted frequently in the last 500,000 years.
